The journey

The North Channel connects the Irish Sea with the Atlantic Ocean is the body of water between Campbeltown and Ballycastle and is officially referred to ‘The Inner Seas off the West Coast of Scotland’.

The crossing from Campbeltown to Rathlin or Ballycastle is 34 miles, or from the anchorage at Sanda only 22 miles.


Boat information

While based on the design of a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) by world-renowned boat builder Redbay, our Stormforce boat is a bespoke boat built for Kintyre Express featuring a solid hull, military-grade engines and has been specially crafted to ensure both reliability and comfort for our passengers.

Our crew

All crew members hold the required qualifications to operate our boats and undertake regular training to maintain their skills.
Life jackets are worn at all times. These are lightweight self-inflating jackets and are comfortable to wear.


A safety talk and life-jacket demonstration will be given before every departure and the skipper and/or crew member will communicate with you throughout the journey to let you know points of interest, progress and interesting facts about the surrounding area.


Please note that we reserve the right to refuse boarding to anyone deemed unfit by the skipper.
We do not permit the consumption of alcohol aboard our boats and smoking is not permitted at any time.

Full third party insurance is provided for all passengers.
Personal effects are carried at own risk.
You must inform the Skipper of any medical conditions before departure.
